What happened
The book records that Efik genealogies place Eyo Honesty I (died 1820) only one to three generations from the founding fathers of Creek Town, used to argue the Efik did not reach the estuary much before the 17th century. It also documents the surviving Yoruba practice of "brotherly inheritance" (ogun pinpin), whereby a deceased Oba's movable property was divided among fellow descendants of Oduduwa.
