Retired Major-General and former Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Pulo Shield (the Niger Delta anti-oil-theft military operation). 2nd defendant in FHC Lagos case alongside Akpobolokemi over the alleged ₦8.5bn NIMASA diversion. Unlike Akpobolokemi (acquitted on no-case submission April 2024), Atewe was ordered to open his defence on counts 12–22 by Justice Faji's 22 April 2024 ruling. Trial ongoing.
