What happened

Under Alafin Ajiboyede, successor to Orompoto, a Nupe army again invaded the Oyo kingdom from Igboho. On this occasion the Nupe invaders were decisively defeated and their commander taken prisoner by the Oyo. Johnson names the defeated Nupe commander as 'Lajomo, king of the Tapas', though this cannot be identified with any known Nupe ruler.
