What happened

At Rop rock shelter, nearly 50 km south of Jos, the remains of a human skeleton were found buried at a shallow depth at the back of the shelter. After the advent of the radiocarbon dating process a date was obtained from this burial of 25 BC ±120. The skeleton is confirmed by re-examination not to be intrusive, and the type of wear on the teeth suggests the owner lived on a starchy diet.
