What happened

At Daima all the cattle figurines throughout the occupation are humpless until the end of the sequence, around AD 1000. All the rock paintings of cattle at Birnin Kudu are also humpless. Zebu-type (humped) cattle were originally domesticated north of India and introduced into Egypt in the middle of the second millennium BC, but they may not have reached Nigeria until very much later.
