What happened

Bernard Fagg was responsible for building the museum at Jos, which was opened in 1952. He had established the archaeological headquarters of the Antiquities Service there and had conducted an excavation in the Rop rock shelter during his leave in 1944. The Jos Museum became the principal repository for Nok Culture terracottas recovered from tin-mining operations.
