Second Oyo–Dahomey war

Contemporary sources record a second protracted Oyo war against Dahomey in 1739–48. Talbot attributed this war to Alafin Onisile, describing him as 'a great warrior', but Law dismisses this equation as having no real evidential basis. The war reaffirmed Oyo suzerainty over Dahomey following a period of Dahomean resistance.
