Convicted

Abba Musa Rimi

Successor Governor of old Kaduna State (June 1981 – October 1983, PRP) following Balarabe Musa's impeachment. After the 31 December 1983 Buhari coup, he was arrested and on 28 March 1985 a Special Military Tribunal sentenced him to 21 years' imprisonment for allegedly corruptly enriching 96 state legislators with ₦500,000 — an act he defended as necessary for "keeping law and order in their constituencies." Released after the Babangida coup; later served as Special Advisor on Political Affairs to General Abdulsalam Abubakar (October 1998 transition). Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON). The 1985 tribunal conviction is recorded as part of Nigeria's anti-corruption history, although Buhari-Idiagbon tribunals' procedural standards differed from regular courts (no jury, summary process, reduced/quashed by Babangida regime).
