Abdu Dawakin Tofa

Civilian Governor of Kano (May–October 1983) under the People's Redemption Party in the Second Republic. After the 31 December 1983 Buhari military coup, a Special Military Tribunal convicted him of corruption and sentenced him to 21 years' imprisonment for receiving a ₦265,000 kickback. Died 27 February 2003. Convictions by 1980s military tribunals are recorded as part of Nigeria's anti-corruption history although their procedural standards differed from regular courts.
