Umaru Tanko Al-Makura

Governor of Nasarawa State (CPC then APC, 2011–2019). Businessman, founder of Almakura Nigeria Limited and Ta'al Nigeria Limited. The first opposition (non-PDP) governor of Nasarawa, winning in 2011 after defecting from PDP to CPC. Survived a 2014 State House of Assembly impeachment attempt over alleged gross misconduct. The EFCC interrogated him alongside his wife Mairo Al-Makura on 28 July 2021 over alleged breach of trust and misappropriation of multibillion-naira funds during his tenure; he stated he was invited, not arrested. No formal charges have been filed as of the import window. Elected Senator for Nasarawa South in 2019, serving 2019–2023.
