Aminu Waziri Tambuwal

Two-term Governor of Sokoto State (2015–2023), former Speaker of the House of Representatives (2011–2015), now Senator for Sokoto South. Arrested by the EFCC on 11 August 2025 for interrogation over alleged ₦189bn in fraudulent cash withdrawals during his governorship, said to constitute violations of the Money Laundering (Prevention & Prohibition) Act, 2022. Released after interrogation; the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at the time of this audit. Tambuwal also faced separate controversies during his tenure including his 2018 APC-to-PDP defection and his 2023 presidential ambitions. Status: `investigation`.
