Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa

Two-term Governor of Sokoto State (1999–2007). Arrested by EFCC on 1 December 2015 alongside Raymond Dokpesi and Bashir Yuguda as a named beneficiary of ONSA arms-procurement funds. Stands trial as 3rd defendant in FCT/HC/CR/42/2015 before Justice Yusuf Halilu — a 25-count charge of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of ₦19.4bn alongside Sambo Dasuki, Bashir Yuguda, his son Sagir Bafarawa and the family-controlled Dalhatu Investment Ltd. The case has suffered persistent adjournments since 2015 and was re-assigned in 2024 after the original judge was elevated. Pleaded not guilty.
