Bashir Yuguda

Career diplomat and former Ambassador; appointed Minister of State for Finance under President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014. Arrested by EFCC on 30 November 2015 as the first major Dasukigate defendant. EFCC alleged that Yuguda received ₦1.5bn from the ONSA through an intermediary company plus ₦1.275bn during the 2015 election campaign and ₦775m from the Accountant-General's office. Yuguda's confessional statement named the six PDP Contact and Mobilisation Committee zonal chairmen — Bode George (South-West), Yerima Abdullahi (North-East), Peter Odili (South-South), Attahiru Bafarawa (North-East), Jim Nwobodo (South-East), Ahmadu Ali (North-Central) — each as recipients of ₦100m, and detailed onward transfers of ₦300m to BAM Properties (Haliru Bello), ₦200m to Bello Sarkin Yaki (Kebbi PDP guber candidate), and ₦100m to Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi (ex-Zamfara Governor). 1st defendant in FCT/HC/CR/42/2015 (₦19.4bn ONSA breach of trust, 25 counts) before Justice Yusuf Halilu, alongside Dasuki, the Bafarawas and Dalhatu Investment. Pleaded not guilty; case stalled in repeated adjournments.
