Chinwoke Mbadinuju

Fourth-Republic Governor of Anambra State (29 May 1999 – 29 May 2003, PDP). Tenure dominated by godfather feuds with Emeka Offor and Chris Uba, year-long teacher and civil-service strikes, and the legalisation of the Bakassi Boys vigilante. **Arraigned in December 2005** on charges of conspiracy to murder Onitsha NBA Chairman Barnabas Igwe and his pregnant wife Amaka (1 September 2002 assassinations) and **declared wanted by an Abuja High Court in June 2008** over alleged forgery and conspiracy. ICPC publicly stated in 2005 it intended to pursue corruption charges but was unable to arraign. Died 11 April 2023 aged 77. Note the most serious live charges are violent-crime conspiracies, not looter-style theft; status `alleged` reflects corruption-specific evidence.
