Alleged

Danladi Umar

Justice Danladi Umar, Chairman of Code of Conduct Tribunal. Appointed age 36 (2011), became youngest CCT chairman at age 40. Issued arrest warrant against Saraki September 18, 2015 (first warrant ever issued against sitting Senate President in Nigeria). Presided over CCT trial 2015–2018. Discharged and acquitted Saraki June 14, 2017 on 18-count charge (found prosecution evidence hearsay and unreliable). Court of Appeal later ordered retrial on 3 of 18 counts; Supreme Court reversed, quashing all charges July 6, 2018. Prior working relationship with defence counsel Kanu Agabi (1999–2001 in Calabar chambers). EFCC filed 2-count fraud charge against Umar (2012) for allegedly demanding N10M bribe from case litigant Rasheed Taiwo, though this appears separate from Saraki case.
