Scandal

Dasukigate — Office of the National Security Adviser arms-procurement scandal

The umbrella scandal cluster covering the alleged diversion of approximately $2.1 billion of funds budgeted for arms procurement to fight Boko Haram, through the Office of the National Security Adviser under Col. Sambo Dasuki (NSA March 2012 – May 2015). Revealed by the 17 November 2015 interim report of the Buhari-appointed presidential investigations committee on arms procurement. The committee's findings cited ₦643.8bn in extra-budgetary spending and $2.2bn in foreign-currency disbursements between 2007 and 2015, with around $2.5bn in 'failed contracts' that delivered no equipment. A subsequent CADEP committee in July 2016 indicted more than 300 individuals and companies (the 'ONSA-300'). A decade later (Premium Times retrospective 10 March 2026; Punch, May 2026), no principal-target has been durably convicted; multiple cases have been struck out (Akpobolokemi NIMASA April 2024; Amosu Court of Appeal December 2025; Oshodin Federal High Court March 2026; Fayose Federal High Court July 2025), and the Dasuki principal case (FCT/HC/CR/43/2015) was re-arraigned afresh in March 2025 after a decade of stalled proceedings.
