Dominic Oneya

Brigadier General Dominic Obukadata Oneya (26 May 1948 – 4 August 2021) was a Nigerian Army officer and administrator born in Lagos to a Delta-State family (Agbarho, Ughelli North LGA). Commissioned in 1971 from the Nigerian Defence Academy; later academic training in Physical Education (Ife/OAU) and the Canadian Land Force Command and Staff College. Served as Military Governor of Kano State (August 1996 – August 1998) under Sani Abacha and as Military Administrator of Benue State (August 1998 – 29 May 1999) under Abdulsalami Abubakar, handing over to civilian Governor George Akume at the Fourth Republic transition. No personal corruption allegations are documented in the corpus. His subsequent role as Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) from January 2000 and his July 2008 leadership of a National Sports Commission team investigating corruption in the Nigerian Premier League (NPL) — featured in the corpus's case entries — concerns Oneya as the investigator, not the subject.
