Ishaya Bakut
Major General Ishaya Bakut (16 August 1947 – 21 March 2015) was a Nigerian Army officer and engineer who served as Military Governor of Benue State from September 1986 to December 1987 under General Ibrahim Babangida, between Idris Garba (predecessor) and Idris Garba (successor — the corpus has a continuity error here; correctly: between Yohanna Madaki and Idris Garba). His tenure lasted just over a year with no major documented developments. He later commanded the ECOMOG peacekeeping force in Liberia (1991–1992) during the First Liberian Civil War; held parts of Monrovia in October 1992 against Charles Taylor's forces until his successor Brigadier-General Adetunji Olurin arrived in December 1992. Trained at Government College Kaduna, the Nigerian Defence Academy, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (B.Sc. Engineering), and the Indian National Defence College (M.Sc.). No corruption case in the corpus. Recommend `contextual` status.
