Context
Jim Nwobodo
First civilian Governor of (old) Anambra State (1 October 1979 – 31 December 1983, NPP, Second Republic). Tried by a Buhari-regime military tribunal in 1984 on corruption and abuse-of-office charges; sentenced (reports vary between 22 and 100 years) and released in 1985 after the Babangida coup. The conviction has been widely characterised as politically motivated and predates the 1985 cutoff of the archive's era taxonomy. Later served as Minister of Sports under IBB and as Senator for Enugu East. A 2025 N235m civil land-title suit at the Enugu State High Court is a private dispute, not a criminal corruption matter.
