Muazu Babangida Aliyu
Two-term Governor of Niger State (2007–2015), once styled 'Chief Servant'. On 12 May 2026, a Niger State High Court acquitted him and two others of an alleged ₦1.940bn money-laundering case, holding that the EFCC failed to prosecute diligently after the prosecution counsel was absent for three sittings. The court's reasoning was process — not exoneration on the merits. A separate FHC Lagos ₦1.509bn ecological-fund prosecution alongside ex-Commissioner Umar Muhammed Nasko was set for a no-case-submission ruling on 8 May 2026; the outcome of that ruling did not surface in this window's reporting. The EFCC's Court of Appeal challenge to the 7 December 2023 no-case ruling on the broader ₦2bn ecological-funds-for-elections case remains pending.
