Timipre Sylva
Chief Timipre Sylva served as Governor of Bayelsa State from 27 May 2008 to 27 April 2012 (PDP) — his first election in April 2007 was nullified by the Court of Appeal in May 2008, requiring a re-run he won that same month, and his second-term election was nullified in 2012, ending his tenure before completing the constitutional eight years. He later served as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (August 2019 – May 2023) under Buhari and remains a prominent APC figure. EFCC corruption proceedings filed against him in 2012 (alleged ₦19.2bn money laundering tied to Bayelsa State funds) were ultimately dismissed in 2018 for want of diligent prosecution; the corpus does not currently capture any of this. **Recommended:** `arraigned` once re-imported; meanwhile `contextual` based only on what is in the corpus today.
