On promises, the headline commitment to free and compulsory education has been materially advanced -- the 2024 budget allocated approximately N130 billion (29.95 percent of N437 billion) to education, WAEC fees were made free for indigent candidates, and 1,200 schools were reported renovated. The reinstatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II in May 2024 -- which had been a Kwankwasiyya movement political objective -- was completed by legislation. On governance, Kano's IGR doubled from N37.38 billion in 2023 to N74.77 billion in 2024, and two successive budgets were passed (N437 billion for 2024; N549 billion proposed for 2025).
