Abdulaziz Musa Yar'Adua

Senator, Katsina Central (Senatorial) · APC

Assessment Profile06

Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar'Adua, a retired Army lieutenant colonel and younger brother of the late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, won the Katsina Central senatorial seat in February 2023 on a thin margin of 1,372 votes over the PDP candidate. His first term has produced a moderate legislative record anchored in his military background: he chairs the Senate Committee on Army and the Northern Senators Forum, sponsored the sweeping Armed Forces (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill, 2025, and moved several security-focused floor motions. A July 2024 motion on electricity tariffs for federal hospitals produced a documented government response — a 50 per cent tariff reduction for public hospitals. Constituency delivery evidence is limited to the senator's own website and press-released accounts of projects, with no independent BudgIT or Tracka audit available; the most notable verified item is a N1.586 billion empowerment programme flagged off in May 2026. No legal proceedings have been identified against him personally. He affirmed APC membership and loyalty to the Tinubu administration publicly in August 2025 after defection rumours arising from confusion with a namesake. He was returned as APC consensus candidate for Katsina Central in May 2026 ahead of the 2027 election.
