Senator Muhammadu Adamu Aliero is one of Nigeria's most durable North-West political figures, having served two terms as Kebbi State Governor (1999-2007), as FCT Minister (2008-2010) and as Senator for Kebbi Central across five assemblies since 2007. His current 10th Senate term includes the chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Land Transport, where his committee conducted oversight of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and co-led the N530 billion counterpart-funding approval for railway modernisation in 2024, and he sponsored SB.224 (Federal University Birnin Kebbi Establishment Bill, 2023). His self-reported constituency scorecard of 550 projects across Kebbi Central's eight LGAs in eleven Senate years has not been independently verified to a sourced standard; a documented 2017 N50 million tiller-machine constituency project was found warehoused and undelivered to beneficiaries by the Tracka monitoring team. On integrity, Aliero has defected between APC and PDP twice within three years -- from APC to PDP in June 2022 and back to APC in May 2025 -- each time citing party internal conditions rather than policy.
