Ademola Adeleke
Governor of Osun State, Osun · PDP
Governor Adeleke entered office on 27 November 2022 on a five-point agenda centred on workers welfare, infrastructure, economic development, skill-based education and agro-industrialisation. His administration's most quantifiable gains are in workers welfare -- the phased clearance of approximately 30 months of inherited half-salary arrears and a N75 billion pension backlog -- and in domestically-funded infrastructure, with the state government claiming over 120 kilometres of roads constructed, 200 primary healthcare centres rehabilitated, and 99 schools renovated under a first-phase N100 billion plan by 2025. Osun's internally generated revenue rose from N27.72 billion in 2023 to N54.7 billion in 2024, a 97 percent increase per state government data, and the state scored 100 percent in the BudgIT Q3 2025 Fiscal Transparency League Table. The administration also claims a 42 percent reduction in domestic debt from N148.37 billion (December 2022) to N86.06 billion (June 2024) per Debt Management Office data, without taking new loans. On the negative side, a civil society coalition rated the administration low on transparency in 2024, and a forensic audit firm alleged in January 2026 that 8,448 ghost workers and 6,713 ghost pensioners were draining approximately N1.14 billion monthly; the state government disputed those figures. A protracted dispute with APC-elected local government chairmen whose elections were nullified in court has complicated grassroots governance. Adeleke defected from the PDP to the Accord Party in December 2025, signalling his exit from the party on whose platform he was elected. The record is mixed: genuine welfare and revenue gains against unresolved governance disputes and contested integrity claims.
This grade rates performance in office, not any person’s guilt. Criminal matters appear above only as their court status. How we grade.
