Chinedu Munir Nwoko
Senator, Delta North (Senatorial) · APC
Senator Chinedu Munir Nwoko (widely known as Ned Nwoko) entered the 10th Senate in June 2023 as a first-term PDP senator representing Delta North. By his own accounting at the two-year mark, he had sponsored 31 bills, moved 20 motions, and attracted 51 constituency projects — a legislative output that, if verified by independent tracking, would place him among the more active senators in the chamber. The signature bill of his first term, the National Agency for Malaria Elimination Bill (SB.172), passed the full Senate on 3 June 2026 and was widely reported as a landmark health-sector contribution. His Constitutional Alteration Bill for the creation of Anioma State passed both first and second readings and cleared zonal public hearings by mid-2025, the furthest any Anioma State bill has advanced in the National Assembly. Committee responsibilities include chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation and the ad-hoc Committee on Crude Oil Theft. Against this record must be set two significant integrity concerns: his defection in January 2025 from the PDP (under whose platform he was elected) to the APC, citing Anioma State creation politics, triggered a court challenge by the PDP seeking to vacate his seat and return unpaid emoluments; and a long-running dispute over Paris Club consultancy fees paid to his firm Linas International Limited resurfaced in 2026 with a whistleblower petition to the EFCC alleging an attempt to receive a further USD 396 million after an alleged USD 350 million settlement in 2018. Nwoko denies both the settlement amount and any fresh improper claim; the matter is contested and unresolved. Independent verification of constituency project delivery in Delta North is limited in open-access sources, and his defection to APC came only to have him lose the APC primary for his own seat to former governor Ifeanyi Okowa in May 2026, a result he has contested. On balance, a first-term legislative record with notable bills and committee activity earns credit, while the party-switch, the Paris Club controversy, and the disputed primary present material integrity and consistency concerns.
