Governor Abiodun entered office in 2019 on a five-pillar ISEYA agenda (Infrastructure, Social Welfare, Education, Youth Empowerment, Agriculture) anchored on the slogan Building Our Future Together. Over two terms his administration registered measurable gains in road construction -- over 1,000 km of roads claimed as constructed or rehabilitated as of March 2025, with a target of 2,000 km before end of tenure -- and in internally generated revenue, which the NBS records at N146 billion in 2023 and N194.93 billion in 2024, making Ogun one of the top five states nationally. The Gateway International Airport in Iperu-Remo commenced commercial passenger flights in October 2025 and was formally commissioned in April 2026, representing a significant capital delivery. Ogun's position as Nigeria's leading industrial state has been reinforced by the ARISE IIP special agro-processing zone agreement and the ATC Business and Industrial Park. On the negative side, total state debt has grown to approximately N494 billion by 2025, driven largely by naira devaluation inflating external loans taken out in dollars; opposition parties have flagged the appointment of 1,200 political aides as wasteful; and civil-society fact-checks have challenged some of the administration's revenue claims as overstated. The Pandora Papers investigation in October 2021 revealed two undeclared BVI companies and a foreign account, raising asset-declaration concerns that have not been formally resolved by the Code of Conduct Bureau. Multiple EFCC petitions filed by HEDA and others remain at allegation stage with no prosecution initiated. The record is mixed: genuine infrastructure momentum and IGR growth offset by transparency deficits and unresolved integrity questions.
