Jibrin Isah Echocho has served as senator for Kogi East since June 2019, winning re-election in 2023 after a tribunal sacked him and the Court of Appeal reversed that ruling in November 2023. In the Senate he moved motions on the Anyigba–Dekina–Shintaku Road (October 2025), the Ajaokuta–Okaba–Otukpo rail line, and other Kogi East infrastructure. Criticism, including a critical piece published in May 2026, questions the tangible impact of these projects in under-served communities. His integrity record is complicated by a 2026 APC ward-level suspension on alleged anti-party activity grounds following his defeat in the May 2026 party primary, a matter that is actively disputed.
