Jibrin Isah (Jibrin Isah Echocho)
Senator, Kogi East (Senatorial) · APC
Jibrin Isah Echocho has served as senator for Kogi East since June 2019, winning re-election in 2023 after a tribunal sacked him and the Court of Appeal reversed that ruling in November 2023. In the 10th Senate he chairs the Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff. His most significant legislative achievement across both terms is the bill to establish the National Eye Centre, Ochadamu, (Ofu LGA, Kogi East) — passed by the Senate in May 2025 — which upgrades the 1948-founded Holley Memorial Hospital into a federal tertiary eye-care facility serving the North Central zone. He also sponsored a bill to establish an Orthopaedic Hospital in Dekina that passed second reading in November 2025 and remains before the Senate. On constituency delivery, reported projects include solar-powered boreholes in multiple communities across the nine LGAs, a skills acquisition centre at Anyigba, a rice milling plant at Ejule-Ojebe (Ibaji LGA), a completed ultra-modern market in Dekina, and a cash empowerment programme covering all 97 wards. In the Senate he moved motions on the Anyigba–Dekina–Shintaku Road (October 2025), the Ajaokuta–Okaba–Otukpo rail line, and other Kogi East infrastructure. Criticism, including a critical piece published in May 2026, questions the tangible impact of these projects in under-served communities. No EFCC, ICPC, or court case has been documented against Jibrin as of June 2026. His integrity record is complicated by a 2026 APC ward-level suspension on alleged anti-party activity grounds following his defeat in the May 2026 party primary, a matter that is actively disputed. Overall, the record is mixed: meaningful bills passed and constituency activity recorded, but independent project-completion verification is absent and some critics contest the depth of delivery.
No court or anti-graft case on public record in this archive as of compilation. Absence of a record is not a clearance.
