Joseph Ikpea
Senator, Edo Central (Senatorial) · APC
Senator Joseph Ikpea entered the 10th Senate on 8 October 2025, following a by-election victory on 16 August 2025 in which he secured 105,129 votes against 15,146 for the PDP candidate. The Edo Central seat fell vacant after Senator Monday Okpebholo was inaugurated as Edo Governor on 12 November 2024 and the Senate formally declared the seat vacant on 11 December 2024. Ikpea brings prior public service as Executive Chairman of Esan South-East LGA (2013-2016) and Commissioner for Minerals, Oil and Gas under Governor Obaseki, but arrived in the Senate only eight months before this card's compilation date. His verifiable legislative output to date consists of one adopted motion on ecological degradation across Esan Land (December 2025) and his role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Drugs and Narcotics, under which he made a courtesy visit to NDLEA on 19 June 2026. On constituency delivery, he has cited rehabilitation of a primary school in Uromi through a supplementary budget and referenced three security outposts built during his LGA chairmanship that security agencies continue to use. Campaign promises of infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment have seen minimal independently verifiable delivery within his short tenure. No criminal charges, EFCC or ICPC proceedings, or court challenges to his election have been recorded. The overall grade reflects the very limited track record available given that he has been in office fewer than nine months at the time of compilation, not a finding of misconduct.
No court or anti-graft case on public record in this archive as of compilation. Absence of a record is not a clearance.
This grade rates performance in office, not any person’s guilt. Criminal matters appear above only as their court status. How we grade.
