Senator Neda Bernards Imasuen won the Edo South senatorial seat in February 2023 on a Labour Party platform, defeating PDP and APC opponents with 167,250 votes. He was appointed Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions early in the 10th Assembly. His legislative output includes at least two identified sponsored bills — the Federal College of Education, Abudu (Establishment) Bill, 2024 and the Federal Medical Centres Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025 — and documented constituency-level projects including solar-powered streetlight installations and a free medical outreach in Edo South. His most prominent action in office was chairing the Ethics Committee that recommended the six-month suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in March 2025, a process that attracted nationwide controversy including claims that some committee members subsequently disowned the report. A separate and significant integrity concern arose from contemporaneous reporting that Imasuen was permanently disbarred by the New York Grievance Committee in May 2010; Imasuen disputed the characterisation of that matter, and the Senate distanced itself from it, but no independent judicial determination on the INEC non-disclosure allegation has been published as of the date of compilation. Imasuen defected from the Labour Party to the APC in June 2025, citing internal party crisis. He was defeated in the APC Edo South senatorial primary in May 2026. On balance, his tenure shows baseline legislative activity and some verifiable constituency delivery, offset by the unresolved integrity questions and the disputed conduct of the Ethics Committee process.
