Senator Shuaibu Afolabi Salisu was sworn into the 10th Senate on 11 June 2023 as the APC representative for Ogun Central, having defeated PDP's Olumide Aderinokun with 96,759 votes to 52,440 in the February 2023 election. His most significant legislative output is the National Digital Economy and E-Governance Bill, 2025, which he championed as Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Security; the bill passed both chambers of the National Assembly and was transmitted to President Tinubu for assent in late November 2025. He also convened a public hearing on the Cybercrime (Prohibition and Prevention) Act (Amendment) Bill in 2023 and sponsored a March 2025 Senate motion directing the Bureau of Public Procurement to halt the proposed acquisition of Lafarge Africa Plc by China's Huaxin Cement, citing national security and economic sovereignty concerns. On constituency delivery, his record includes solar power and streetlight installations at the Ogun NUJ secretariat (May 2025), 15 solar-powered poles at Paramount 94.5FM Abeokuta (February 2026), ICT training for over 350 youths and 220 teachers with laptop distributions, championing the reconstruction of the Camp Junction-FUNAAB road, and distributing educational materials to over 1,000 secondary school students. Salisu publicly acknowledged in May 2025 that many of his earlier constituency projects had been hijacked by others due to his failure to commission and publicise them, an admission that weakened independent verification of his pre-2025 record. On promises, he pledged quality representation, closeness to constituents, and technology-driven development but made no specific documented benchmarks traceable in the public record. On integrity, he has remained within the APC, been endorsed by Governor Abiodun as a consensus 2027 candidate, and drew no recorded criminal charges or court proceedings; however, a faction of APC aspirants publicly rejected his consensus endorsement as a governor-directed imposition, raising intra-party process concerns.
