Simon Davou Mwadkwon
Senator, Plateau North (Senatorial) · PDP
Simon Davou Mwadkwon (born 25 July 1968) was declared winner of the Plateau North senatorial election on 1 March 2023 by INEC, polling 155,681 votes on the PDP platform. He was sworn into the 10th Senate on 13 June 2023 and elected Senate Minority Leader on 4 July 2023 - the most senior opposition leadership role in the chamber. A National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Jos affirmed his election in August 2023. On 22 October 2023, the Court of Appeal in Abuja nullified his election on the ground that the PDP had not fully complied with a Plateau State High Court order requiring fresh congresses in 12 LGAs before nominations; the court ordered a rerun within 90 days. Mwadkwon was not a candidate in the 3 February 2024 rerun election, as PDP was excluded from the ballot following the litigation; he endorsed the ADP candidate Prince Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang, who won. His effective Senate tenure therefore ran approximately four months (June to late October 2023). Within that period his identifiable legislative output includes sponsoring a motion on Nigerians detained in Ethiopia (adopted by the Senate on 4 October 2023) and sustained public advocacy for state-police reform as the preferred mechanism to reduce the recurring killings in Plateau North. Constituency interventions reported during his tenure include distribution of grinding and sewing machines to 200 women across the six LGAs of Plateau North. No EFCC or ICPC proceedings have been reported against him. He subsequently defected from PDP to APC in January 2026 and won the APC primary for Plateau North in May 2026. The grade reflects a compressed tenure imposed by litigation, moderate but real legislative engagement as Minority Leader, and constituency-level empowerment work that was curtailed by the same truncated period. Confidence is medium given the brevity of the term and the limited volume of independently verifiable project data.
No court or anti-graft case on public record in this archive as of compilation. Absence of a record is not a clearance.
This grade rates performance in office, not any person’s guilt. Criminal matters appear above only as their court status. How we grade.
