Senator Udende Memsa Emmanuel won the Benue North-East seat in February 2023 on the APC ticket, defeating former governor Gabriel Suswam. His election was initially nullified by a tribunal in September 2023 before the Court of Appeal reinstated him in November 2023. As chairman of the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes, he has been an active floor participant: sponsoring the FMC Adikpo bill, which the Senate passed and which awaits presidential assent; moving a December 2024 motion on Benue insecurity that led to Senate resolutions on arms proliferation and barracks construction; moving an April 2026 motion that led to a Senate directive ordering INEC to restore three suppressed state constituencies, which INEC subsequently implemented in June 2026; and sponsoring a motion commending the EFCC's 2024 conviction record. His constituency delivery record is partially evidenced through donated motorcycles to security operatives in Afia, advocacy for three road projects in the district, and peace consultations with traditional leaders in Sankera. No formal campaign manifesto is in the public record, and no completed capital project in his district has been independently verified. No EFCC, ICPC, or court proceedings are on the public record against him.
