Femi Fani-Kayode

In 2006, Femi Fani-Kayode was appointed as Nigeria's Minister of Aviation under President Olusegun Obasanjo's administration, serving until 2007. During his tenure, he oversaw the aviation sector during a period of significant infrastructure challenges and safety concerns. Following his time in government, Fani-Kayode later became a prominent political figure, serving as Director of Media for the People's Democratic Party's presidential campaign in 2014-2015 when Goodluck Jonathan sought re-election.

Fani-Kayode's appointment came during the Fourth Republic's efforts to reform Nigeria's aviation sector, which had faced numerous safety incidents and infrastructure deficits. His later role in the 2015 PDP campaign placed him at the center of one of Nigeria's most competitive presidential elections, where the ruling party faced strong opposition from the All Progressives Congress. However, his political career became overshadowed by corruption allegations, leading to his arraignment by anti-corruption agencies as part of broader efforts to investigate misuse of public funds during the Jonathan administration.
