What happened
A particular kind of pottery known as 'wavy-line' and 'dotted wavy-line', together with barbed bone harpoons, is part of an older tradition extending back in time as far as the seventh millennium BC across the sahel and southern Saharan zones from the Atlantic to the Nile. At Daima, large numbers of barbed bone harpoons were found from the earliest levels dated to about 600 BC, and others were found at Shilma a few hundred years earlier.
