Ife naturalistic art (brass heads and terracottas) flourishes

Radiocarbon dates in the twelfth century CE were obtained for levels at Ife in which terracottas occurred, and for a mortuary chapel at the reputed burial site of Oni Lafogido. Ife is best known for its life-size naturalistic brass heads and terracottas, executed by the lost-wax (cire perdue) technique and admired worldwide.
