What happened

Infuriated at being cut off from slave-trade profits by the coastal monopolies, King Agaja of Dahomey sent troops to conquer Allada in 1724, taking control of the port of Jakin. In 1727 he attacked Hueda and brought Whydah under Dahomey, ending the coastal monopoly.
