Mass burial with bronzes at Benin

The only archaeologically dated bronzes of account from Benin are 49 manillas and bracelets associated with the skeletons of over forty young women thrown into an abandoned well-shaft in the middle of the 13th century. An edge-set potsherd pavement at Benin dates no later than the 13th century.
