Nri ritual hegemony spreads across Igboland

According to traditions reported by Onwuejeogwu, the influence of the Nri-centred culture was already spreading through Igboland by the first century CE, and Nri remained one of the most important factors in Igbo life until about the 16th century. Nri priests and diviners acquired the right to travel unmolested performing installation, purification and title-making rites.
