What happened

After Onigbogi died in exile in Borgu, his successor Ofinran withdrew from Bariba territory into Yorubaland and settled at Kusu, about 50 miles west of Oyo Ile. Law argues Ofinran was the founder of a new dynasty of Bariba origin. At Kusu, Ofinran officially adopted the cult of Ifa, the god of divination, which Oyo tradition says his grandmother (Alafin Onigbogi's mother, an Awori woman from Ota) had first brought to Oyo.
