Long reign of Alafin Majotu; Clapperton and Landers visit

Majotu was installed as Alafin c. 1802 following the five-year interregnum. Law argues he is the Alafin met by Clapperton and the Landers on their visits to Oyo Ile between 1826 and 1830, giving him a reign of about twenty-eight years. Clapperton and Richard Lander travelled from Badagry to Oyo Ile in 1825–6; Richard Lander returned alone in 1827; and Richard and John Lander again visited in 1830.
